I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to present my ‘ravings’ through these pages. And as I do that, I appreciate the kindness, support and encouragement I’ve been given.
Since my last post in early October I’ve created another batch of ‘scribbles’, which I’d like to share with you. Hopefully you will find some enjoyment and significance in these.
********
Maggie and I often watch the TV program, Grand Designs. Recently I was taken by the shape of one of the windows featured in a ‘Grand Design’ and decided to create something utilising that shape.

********
English can be a frustrating language. For example, the plural of Axe is Axes, while the plural of Axis is also Axes, but pronounced differently. So please forgive me for the ‘spelling license’ used in the caption below.

********
War here, famine there, cyclones somewhere else – with so much happening in our world right now, it’s easy to become mentally disconnected from it.

********
“I do like to be beside the seaside …” … except when I see something like this.

********
Completing this image was a mental struggle. When I thought it was almost ‘finished’, I realised I’d just been filling spaces with meaningless shapes and colours, which led to thinking, ‘I have no right to publish (so called artworks) when I have no idea what I’m doing’.
Deciding to accept where I was at (beginner stage) and facing up to my creative laziness was like opening a pressure valve. I began to be a little kinder to myself and was mindful of how important it is to be true to oneself, even while learning and having fun.
Although this was intended to be an abstract work, it may best be described as absurdity with a slither of reality (which matches my weird sense of humour).

*******
Music has been a big part of my life … and still is. Years ago I played in a Salvation Army brass band and in several rock bands … attempted a Bachelor of Music Degree … and in conjunction with friends recorded and produced albums for various musicians. While I didn’t rise to great heights of success academically, playing or recording, I have many wonderful memories of those times. and learnt a lot more than I can now remember.

According to MacPaw.com, “Freeform is an Apple application designed to foster collaboration with others, brainstorm ideas, and work on projects.”. I decided to have a bit of fun and do a mock project as one of my ‘AlistairScribbles’. Besides, I did a lot of work on that ruby Trellis and couldn’t think of another way to use it.

********
I hope the visual busyness (below) of overlapping colours and shapes, conveys a presence of glass structures, akin to that of a modern city.

********
It seemed funny at the time … and could be better explained, if I’d been drinking too much when I created it?

Of course, mature fireflies don’t drink or eat … they don’t have a mouth.
********
That’s it for now. Thanks for viewing and reading. Stay safe and I’ll see you next time.
Daryl and
Posted at 15:22h, 13 NovemberI very much like a number of the images.
This is due to the fact that love Kadinsky.
Very interesting Alistair

Posted at 15:35h, 13 NovemberI’m pleased you like some of the images Daryl. I’ve stated this previously, but forgive me for repeating it, I love Kandinsky’s abstract work also. Unfortunately I missed the Kandinsky Exhibition at NSW Art Gallery earlier this year, however I’ve seen many of his works online.

Posted at 12:42h, 14 NovemberHi Alistair
I think given the quality of the art work you could change you title from scribbles to Alistair’s Creative Designs.
