And now for something completely different, an unprecedented (word of the year) surprise … But you’ll have to at least glance at the five masterpieces that proceed the surprise.

Okay it’s not that big of a surprise really … And maybe the proceeding images are slightly below masterpiece level. But what the heck, have a look … and enjoy (hopefully).

Lines, Colours and Space

Having drawn a straight line I felt compelled to make all subsequent lines square or parallel to each other, with precision. To help break free from this tyranny a few oblique lines were included.

Photographic Curiosities

I often take photos to use in or inspire my attempts at abstract art. For some of those images unconventional post production techniques are applied to bring out colours and shapes not necessarily part of the original. I call them Photographic Curiosities, because they don’t fit any existing photographic or artistic category that I’m aware of.

Below are three Photographic Curiosities to introduce you to the category.

(none of the images are produced using AI).

Crab Pellets on the Sand

This image shows pellets on the beach from Sand Bubbler Crabs. The crabs filter the sand through their mouths to extract the nutrients they need, then form small sand pellets to deposit the sand back on the beach, and in the process make these wonderful patterns. Add the post production mentioned above and this is the result.

Twig on the Beach

This is a little more obvious, but heavily processed to bring more colour to the image.

Rocky Outcrop
